Shilpa Sayura wins 4th International Award



Shilpa Sayura, the flagship e-SDI rural e learning project from Sri Lanka won DISKOBOLOS 2008 international award, At final ceremony in the Hotel Continental Belgrade, on 18th December 2008, this year's the most qualitative solutions in the application of information and communication technologies in almost all spheres of economy and non-economy were announced.



Ms. Jasna Matić, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Society of Serbia, opened the ceremony and award recognition attended the highest bodies of Serbia and President of CEPIS - Council of European Professional Informatics Societies,

Mr. Đorđe Dukić, president of JISA – Union of IT Societies of Serbia, as a 14-year-old organizer of recognition Diskobolos, by welcome speech stressed the fact that this recognition, unique by its purpose and emphasizing the positive experiences.

During the last 14 years, in cooperation with ICT association councile, European Economic Chamber, the West Balkans economic chambers and ICT associations, JISA traditionally gives a Diskobolos award for the most successful modern technologies applying in everyday business.



Speaking of the achivement "Telecenters and Shilpa Sayura keep growing, We are exploring new possibilities and dimensions to reach rural people at large", says Niranjan Meegammana, the Designer of Shilpa Sayura.

Shilpa Sayura rural e learning project, funded by ICTA e-SDI Programme implemented in South- East Sri Lanka by e fusion won three other international Awards I4D 2007 in India, GKP 2007 in Malaysia, Stockholm Challenge 2008 in Sweden, and Best Corporate Citizen Merit by CCC in Sri Lanka.
